Anti-Bullying

Our commitment to kindness is at the heart of our school community. Our Student Inclusion Team linked their statement with our school’s core values and have pledged that:

We believe every student deserves to feel happy, safe and included – part of a community grounded in kindness, respect, perseverance and integrity.

There are numerous initiatives throughout the year that pupils take part in including Anti-bullying Week which aims to raise awareness of bullying of young people, with an emphasis on prevention and effective responses to bullying. It began in 2002 and is coordinated by the charity Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Our Student Inclusion Team and Year 7 Anti-bullying committee have worked incredibly hard to encourage everyone to take positive actions to support those affected by bullying and to foster a culture of respect and empathy. They have delivered information during form time and asked pupils and teachers to get creative with their classroom doors by decorating them in bright and eye-catching colours during Anti-bullying Week. Pupils also made a ‘kindness pledge’ which were displayed on the doors too. Thank you to our Student Inclusion Team for being such incredible role models, not only during Anti-bullying week, but every other week of the year too.

Get help with bullying: Your child’s Head of Year is responsible for their holistic development, including their overall progress and attainment, personal and social development, behaviour and wellbeing. If you need support with bullying, please contact your child’s Head of Year or our dedicated Pastoral team: Staffing – John Taylor High School. There are also a number of resources here on the Anti-bullying Alliance webpage: Find help and support.

The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development is exceptional. (Ofsted, May 2025)
