School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of the school and sets an appropriate tone. It instills pride, supports positive behaviour and discipline and encourages identity with the school.

At John Taylor High School, we take pride in our identity as one community and expect all students to wear the full uniform, wear it appropriately and that this expectation will be supported by parents.

Uniform can also be useful to protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way. The school uniform policy and procedure is adherent to the statutory guidance from the Department
for Education, including the most recent updates from the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill.
