All students at John Taylor High School belong to a ‘House’. This promotes a community ethos with students of all years being split into one of the four houses. Kingstone, Marchington, Needwood or Sherwood. Each House has its own colour, which depicts the colour of pupil’s blazer pin.

Pupils, across all year groups can gain merits for various reasons including academic achievement, positive behaviour and general participation in school activities. It is a great way to encourage pupils and reward them for their efforts within the school community. Students also have the opportunity to earn Merits through House Council activities, House Competitions & Sports Day
