Interventions

  • Students reading is screened using NGRT.
  • Follow on diagnostics are used for the weakest 20%.
  • Reading SAS scores and individual need communicated to teachers.
  • Tailored interventions (decoding, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension).
  • Interventions are timely, impactful and evaluated.

Expert Teaching

  • Teachers support understanding of complex texts through modelling reading texts aloud to the class.
  • Teacher use formative assessment of reading comprehension responsively and flexibly, adjusting strategies where necessary.
  • Vocabulary development is supported.
  • Writing is supported through modelling.
