Welcome to the PE Curriculum page

The Head of Faculty is Mr Hulley.

Our Aim: Provide challenge for all through a broad curriculum with wide ranging sporting activities to encourage all students to engage and connect with the subject from their initial entry point at John Taylor High School.

Allow students to successfully develop their knowledge and motor competency by carefully sequencing blocks of work so students can build familiarity using prior knowledge and positive transfer of skills across activities.

Allow students to develop their knowledge of tactics and strategy across a range of activities to enhance their decision making. Allow students to approach new learning blocks confidently through the delivery of lessons by utilising revisit and interleaved activities, in which staff help students to make clear links between prior learning and current learning.

Through the use of adaptive teaching, pupils with SEND will be able to access the learning outcomes of every lesson.

Promote lifelong enjoyment and participation in physical activity through a breadth and balanced curriculum, external links and wide ranging extra-curricular activities. In addition, ensuring our curriculum reflects the current provision locally and to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence in activities in which they are more likely to access outside of our curricular and extra-curricular offer at JTHS. Establishing building blocks to further study through a variety of academic and vocational courses alongside seeing the relevance of a career in sport by raising aspirations through a number of external visits and speakers. Positively develop the physical, mental and social well-being of students.
