Welcome to the Art Curriculum page
The Head of Faculty is Miss Evans.
Our Aim: The goal of our curriculum reflects a broad and inclusive nature. The strengths of the teaching staff mean that as a department we specialise in Fine Arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking) and the Applied Arts (textiles, graphics). These disciplines are carefully built into the curriculum framework that challenges, develops, and builds upon the ideas and skills that students have previously experienced.
As a result, pupils learn within the specialist areas how to achieve: ambitious goals: fluency, experimentation, and authenticity. This helps pupils to get better as they move through secondary education.

Year 13 Digital Art Exhibition
Miss Evan’s, Head of Faculty said ‘ A-Level art consists of 2 component so within this digital exhibition you can see many outcomes and in some cases parts of their creative journey for both the coursework and externally set assignment. Students developed their own themes from; addition and the effect on the mind, cultural heritage, childhood nostalgia to mark making within the landscape. Students are encouraged to extend their personal style with heightened confidence and to work in an absorbed and intimate manner. The course is an integration of practical, critical and theoretical study using a variety of media and processes. The majority of students go onto Arts and Design Degrees and have successful careers in the Creative Industries’.
The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development is exceptional. (Ofsted, May 2025)
