Welcome to the Religious Studies Curriculum page
The Head of Faculty is Miss Broderick.
Our Aim: To ensure students become religiously literate – therefore develop knowledge and understanding of religion and belief – in order to enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. To explore the multi-faceted disciplines within Religious Studies – therefore exploring Theology, Philosophy, Ethics and Sociology. Opportunities for students to be reflective of their own beliefs/perspectives (religious/non-religious) and understand how these can influence actions and behaviour. For students to critically evaluate their own beliefs and opinions on a range of theological, philosophical, ethical and social issues as well as comparing and contrasting the views of others (to include theist and atheist perspectives) To develop subject specific vocabulary so that students can speak and write in a religiously literate way. Ultimately to prepare them for life in multicultural and multi-faith Britain – having knowledge and respect for different peoples’ beliefs, values and feelings. In line with the 3 aims of the Staffordshire local agreed syllabus of – exploring (religious beliefs, teachings, practices), engaging (with ultimate questions) and reflecting (on religious diversity and developing skills of analysis.)
