The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is at the heart of John Taylor, and is here to:

  • Encourage students to gain a love and enjoyment of books
  • Provide a learning environment at the heart of the school to support all students and staff
  • Develop pupils’ skills in finding, selecting and using information ethically to produce independent lifelong learners

Our LRC Library is available throughout the school day for all year groups to access a variety of facilities, including:

  • Over 9,000 physical resources, including fiction and non-fiction, revision guides and textbooks.
  • 16 networked computers, plus an additional trolley of laptops for curriculum use.
  • Access to our Access-IT online library catalogue.
  • The LRC Stationery Store – selling a range of school equipment at low prices (cash payments only).
  • A wide range of revision guides catering for KS3, KS4 & KS5.
  • Access to a variety of digital learning platforms to support home learning and research projects.
  • Access to a printing and photocopying facility.
  • Friendly library staff to guide and support our pupils.

Opening Times:

Years 7-11 can access the LRC Library at the following times, Monday to Friday -

  • Mornings (8:00am-8:55am)
  • Breaktimes (11:10am-11:30am)
  • Lunchtimes (1:10pm-1:55pm)
  • After-school (3:40pm-4:15pm)

Years 12-13 can also utilise the LRC Library for private study during their no-contact periods throughout the school day.

Resources and Services

  • With over 25,000 items: a wide range of books both fiction and non-fiction, weblinks, journals, newspapers, and audio CDs.

  • 18 networked computers, 30 chromebooks, and a computerised management system, Eclipse.net.
  • Online library catalogue to enable pupils to check their loan status and search for resources via the Reading Cloud from any computer in the school.
  • Careers, Apprenticeships and Higher Education resources.
  • A stationery shop which stocks everything from pencils to memory sticks, with printing, photocopying and laminating facilities for pupils.

Mr Weighall and Mrs Stubbs are available in the LRC to support students and staff.
