On Tuesday 14th October our Year 7 students embarked on an unforgettable Bonding Day experience, held at the Beaudesert Outdoor Activity Centre.

The trip allows pupils to unlock new skills and take on tasks that they’ve never had the opportunity to do before. Another key outcome of the trip is for friendships to develop through teamwork and communication. The day was packed with exciting outdoor challenges and team-building activities. Our teachers and guides were on hand every step of the way to encourage pupils to try something new and show them the impact of stepping out their comfort zones. The Year 7s embraced the spirit of adventure while learning the importance of trust, teamwork and fun in their new school community.

Mrs Bale, Head of Year 7, said  ‘I’d like to say a big thank you to both our year 7 pupils, 6th form leaders and staff for making the day such a fantastic success! We know that moving from primary to secondary school can feel like a big leap and sometimes a nerve-wracking one, so it’s our top priority to help our new cohort settle in, make new friends, and build confidence through teamwork and communication. Here at JTHS we truly are ‘One Community’, and it’s wonderful to see our core values of kindness, respect, integrity, and perseverance shining through right from the very start. I’m so proud to have seen these values in action throughout the day — what an incredible group of young people we have!’

Bonding day is super fun and exciting. You get to try things that you may have not tried before. It is a good experience and pushes you to be brave. All of the instructors were super nice and supportive. I am so grateful that I got to go with my friends and I even made new friends. – Erin

I really enjoyed my time at bonding day, we did lots of activities and I made new friends. My group did three activities, these were eliminator high ropes, ae throwing and sledging which was my favourite. The instructors were really good and funny! I really liked the site because it was all welcoming as soon as we walked in. Bonding Day at Beudesert was a great opportunity to make new friends and enjoy new activities. – Madison

I really enjoyed the year 7 Bonding Day as I had lots of fun with my friends. We did caving where we crawled through caves and squeezed our way out. Afterwards we enjoyed the eliminator, on this we climbed up a wooden pole and then up a net. Finally we went up two tyres and waited aththe top until we were brought down. This was my favourite activity. At the end of the day we did axe throwing. All in all I had an amazing day and would do it again in a heartbeat. – Beatrice
