Our Year 13 Environmental Science students spent the day in the Derbyshire countryside looking at the level of pollution in streams. They were using a kick sampling technique to capture and identify invertebrates. They used this data along with sampling the water for chemicals to evaluate how polluted the streams are. We found lots of invertebrates that we expected to see in the water, plus a very large invasive crayfish which we didn’t!
