Thomas Russell Junior School pupils joined our Year 12 Environmental Scientists for an afternoon of pond dipping to discover the hidden world of aquatic life in our local waters. During the field study activity, Year 12 students were on hand to guide the younger students with pond dipping techniques, the interactions between the students was lovely to see.
They used nets and identification charts to carefully collect and observe various aquatic organisms, Mayfly larvae, bloodworms and water boatmen. Through this hands-on experience, students learnt to identify different aquatic species and understand their roles in the pond ecosystem.
Many thanks to Mrs Hadley, Teacher of Science, for facilitating the afternoon.
