Sixth Form Induction

Anchor for Skip to main content accessible link

The transition from Year 11 into Sixth Form can be daunting for students irrespective of whether they have previously been a John Taylor student or not. As such we have an induction process in place to support all students with their step up into keystage 5.

For all students we hold a ‘bridging day’ in July to familiarise them with how Sixth Form lessons work. Summer work is also set to support students to make a flying start to their studies in September.

For students who are new to John Taylor, we offer an additional ‘bridging day’ to allow them an opportunity to get used to their new surroundings. Pastoral staff also work closely with these students to ensure that their first few weeks in Sixth Form go smoothly.

Our ‘Welcome to Sixth Form Evening’ takes place early in the Autumn term allowing students, school and families to work closely together from an early point on the Sixth Form journey.

Students are immensely proud of their school, and one spoke for many when they described the sixth form as ‘where the magic happens’. (Ofsted, May 2025)
