As per our mobile phone procedures, pupils should not be using their mobile phones to contact parents during the day. Any contact with parents must come through the school, and pupils should see the relevant school officers to facilitate this. Unfortunately we have had a number of incidents recently where parents have arrived to collect their child and the school has been unaware of any contact. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
We will be running a programme of Easter revision sessions for selected subjects. Those that choose not to do one will be completing sufficient amounts of exam preparation during their curriculum time. We will be publishing the timetable and more details for this after half term.
Dear Parents/Carers
Please be aware that Barton Bowls and Social Club is private property and is out of bounds to students during school hours. In addition, unauthorised individuals who enter the premises during ‘none trading hours’ will be monitored on CCTV and reported to the police.
Regards
Mrs K Cochrane
Drop-Off Before and Pick-up After School
Please can we ask that parents and carers who are dropping off before school or collecting pupils after school are mindful of other road users? The roads around the school do get very busy and we have had one or two near misses with our pupils, particularly given that it is quite dark at these times at the moment. Additionally, we would ask that cars are parked within the normal road regulations. Please do not wait for pupils where there is a zig-zig marking on the road outside of the school.
Thank you for your support with this.
On the 2nd March 2020, our Year 10 and 12 students will take part in employability skills interviews as part of their Careers Programme at John Taylor High School. This is a vital step in our students journey towards employment and this for many, will be their first ever interview with a professional. The aim is for all students to gain an insight into how they should prepare for an interview as well as conduct themselves during the process.
With over 300 students to interview, we need lots of people to interview the students and for that reason we would like to invite parents and friends of the school to volunteer their services for the day.
The interviews will take place in the training centre from 9.30 am until 3.40 pm with a break for refreshments at 11.10 am and lunch at 1.10 pm. Tea, coffee, biscuits and a buffet lunch will of course be provided for all those who volunteer on the day.
We would be delighted if you could join us for the whole day however if you cannot attend for the whole day then we would be more than happy to welcome for either the morning or the afternoon if preferred.
Please contact me via my email [email protected] if you would like to volunteer.
Kind regards
Mr C. Knight

Post 16 Decisions
Following a series of assemblies, open evenings and taster lessons last term, all Year 11 students have discussed with their Tutors the pathway that they wish to choose for their Post 16 studies. This information is being collated and will be communicated at the start of next month. As part of this communication, parents will be offered three different methods to discuss these options e.g. face to face meeting, telephone call or a return slip to confirm that the options are correct. Please can I confirm that current students DO NOT need to complete an application form to join our Sixth Form.
Year 11 are now beginning a detailed programme of revision for their English Language and Literature exams. Students will also have a series of mock exams on their literature texts over the next term.
Please refer to the schedule attached for details.
