The role of the John Taylor Sporting Ambassadors has had to adapt and change due to Covid-19. In a normal year, they would be helping to officiate and run the many festivals and tournaments which are on offer for the local primary schools, with events such as bhangra dancing, indoor athletics festivals, dodgeball, multi skills and the local Community Tea.
In place of our community tea this year the sporting ambassadors have made deliveries to the residents of Palmers Close. They were asked to design a happy stone, wrote letters and made paper flowers which were delivered in late November along with cookies and cakes made by Mrs Smith in Food Technology. Before Christmas we also delivered bags of food to Palmers Close, along with a Christmas card and packets of seeds kindly donated by Byrkley Garden Centre.
The young ambassadors are creating power points about various sporting events which are being sent out to our local primary schools for them to show in assembly. Normally the Ambassadors would go into the schools and deliver the presentation themselves, but in the current circumstances are finding new ways of inspiring a love of sport and helping others. Teams meeting are being held and ideas for the residents of Palmers Close are being discussed all the time.
Izzy, one of our experienced ambassadors, has compiled a power point talking about her experiences and why she enjoys it so much. You can view this by following the link below.
In the summer term pupils who will be in Year 8 onwards (in Sept 2021) can apply to become a Sporting Young Ambassador and join the team to promote our school values of respect, kindness, integrity and perseverance. I look forward to receiving your applications!
