Celebration: John Taylor High School celebrate strong A-Level and BTEC results

John Taylor High School celebrated impressive exam results today, as students came and collected their results. The school provides a high-quality post-16 education and strives to develop all students, so they can reach their full potential. The subject specialist teachers are at the forefront of innovation in teaching and learning to enhance the classroom experience and this has been reflected in today’s fantastic results.

Director of Post 16, Mr Legood said, ‘we are delighted that the dedication and hard work our Sixth Form students have shown throughout their studies has been rewarded in their results. We are confident they will approach the next stage of their journey with the same determination and resilience they have demonstrated during their time with us. Sixth Form is about far more than academic success alone; we are equally proud of the growth, maturity, and character our students have developed over the last two years. They have been outstanding role models within our school community and have inspired younger students by their example. We wish them every success and happiness as they move forward to their chosen next steps.’

Destinations

Students at John Taylor High School Sixth Form are preparing to embark on exciting new chapters as they progress to a range of post 18 destinations aligned with their passions, talents and career aspirations.

The Class of 2026 has secured destinations which reflect both their hard work and the breadth of opportunities available through the sixth form experience.

Gregory – University of Liverpool

Gregory is set to begin a degree in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Liverpool, with ambitions of becoming a theoretical physicist. He is particularly looking forward to meeting like-minded students who share his enthusiasm for the subject and immersing himself in a world of advanced scientific study.

Gregory credits the support and guidance of sixth form staff with helping him make informed decisions about his future. He said, “learning about teachers’ university experiences helped me gain knowledge about what university is like, which gave me a more informed perspective on my future options.”

The opportunity to learn from staff who shared their own higher education journeys helped Gregory confidently plan his next steps towards a career in science and research.

Harry – University of Plymouth

Harry will be progressing to the University of Plymouth after securing an unconditional offer. He is looking forward to the greater independence that university life will bring and the opportunities to continue developing his creativity.

Harry highlighted the positive impact of his BTEC studies, which encouraged him to experiment with a range of artistic techniques and approaches. He said, ‘’my BTEC encouraged me to try different mediums in art instead of just focusing on one.”

This breadth of experience has helped Harry develop his artistic confidence and prepared him for the exciting challenges that lie ahead at university.

Shauna – Leeds Art University

Shauna will be taking up a place at Leeds Arts University to study Acting for Screen. Looking ahead to university, she is excited to pursue a career in an industry she is passionate about while learning from experienced professionals and building connections with fellow students.

Reflecting on her time in the sixth form, Shauna said, “throughout Sixth Form I learnt how to adapt to new challenges, and it helped prepare me for the greater independence I’ll have at university. I couldn’t have done this without the support of the staff and teachers.”

Alongside her academic studies, Shauna played an active role in the school’s Student Inclusion Team, helping to advocate for the needs of others. This experience has developed valuable leadership and communication skills that she intends to take forward into university life and beyond.

Lois – Degree Apprenticeship at Dunelm

Following her results, Lois is looking forward to starting a Retail Management Degree Apprenticeship with Dunelm. Reflecting on her time in Sixth Form, Lois said, ‘my art teachers were very supportive and helped me apply for apprenticeships, and all of my teachers and support staff have helped build my confidence.”

The success of Shauna, Gregory, Harry and Lois reflects the commitment of John Taylor High School Sixth Form to providing students with academic excellence, personalised support and enrichment opportunities that prepare them for life beyond school.
