FAO- Parents of students on report

As you will be aware we have updated our behaviour reports and added in some additional documentation to support. The key changes are;

  1. Report are now daily report cards
  2. If a student loses/fails to get their report signed, they will receive a lunch detention
  3. Report Cycle and Report Review documents will be completed.
  4. Students will be given one personalised target- this may change daily or kept the same for a period of time
  5. Only M’s (met) and N’s (not met) are given on reports- N’s given should be logged on Class Charts to explain why
  6. Students may meet their target on report and still receive a negative for a different behaviour. This is fine as we want to allow students to achieve success where possible.

What you should expect as a parent

  • You should receive a ‘Report Cycle Document’ either via email or physical copy. This will have been completed by either tutor/Head of Year/Subject Teacher/Faculty lead and your child. This collaborative approach is to aim to support your child and enable them to be part of the discussions.
  • Your child will we be given a daily report card that they should take home to show you their daily progress.
  • You should be updated at some point in the reporting process. A student can be on any one report for 6 weeks, this can be escalated/deescalated at any point.
  • At the end of a report cycle, an ‘Report Review document’ will be completed to show successes and actions. This will be discussed with the student and again shared with you.

Your role as a Parent/Carer

  • When you receive either the initial report document or review document, there is a box for you to electronically sign and make any comments.
  • As parents/carers and there is a box for you to sign on their daily report cards and add any comments. This again shows the collaborative approach between school, student and parents/carers. Hopefully allowing for positive relationships and encouraging success together.

This process will be reviewed over the next half term. Any queries please email office@jths.co.uk. Thank you for your support.

Miss Sears.
