This week at Hot Chocolate with the Head, Mr Blanchenot was joined by a delightful group of pupils that have achieved personal excellence for their creativity. Firstly, Rebekah in Year 9 was nominated for taking the top spot in a local photography competition. She explained to the group how she had won the under 18’s open photography competition run by the Burton on Trent Photographic Society. Rebekah won the competition with her fantastic photograph of a Red-Headed Paper Wasp when visiting Columbia in the summer. She was awarded a certificate and prize by the mayor of East Staffordshire. Well done Rebekah. You are a true example of always striving for personal excellence. Take a look at the images below.

Mr Blanchenot was equally impressed with the next group of students who placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and highly commended for the Poppy Art Competition, led by Mrs Forden for Remembrance Day. The brief was to design and make a piece of artwork in any medium and in any scale based on the Poppy. The talent was phenomenal and the art department felt proud to display each entry in the art classroom. Mrs Spencer, Deputy Headteacher, had the pleasure of choosing the winners who you can see below. Thank you and well done to everyone who entered. Each student was presented with a certificate, and 1st, 2nd, 3rd place were given an amazon voucher too.

1st Place – Imogen P | 2nd Place – Erin V  | 3rd Place – Bethan P |  Highly Commended – Amelia K, Orla S, Beatrix M

The final two pupils who were nominated were Maymunah S and Paige D by Mrs Abbott, for giving up their free time and lunch times to prepare and deliver sessions to Year 11 and Year 12 students, sharing their experiences and knowledge with students who want to apply for medicine at university.
