We have a number of events across the school this week, please take a read below.

Monday 10th November: Anti-Bullying Week

‘Power For Good’

During the week there will be a number of activities, assemblies & workshops to highlight Anti-Bullying Week, led by our Student Inclusion Team and Year 7 Anti-Bullying Team. The teams have been busy this morning putting plans during the House Council meeting!

Pupils will also be asked to make a pledge which will then displayed on decorated classroom doors. We can’t wait to see the corridors come alive with colour and creativeness. Mr Blanchenot will be judging the designs at the end of the week and picking a winner.

Students are invited to wear their best & brightest Odd Socks on Friday 14th November too!

Tuesday 11th November: Remembrance Day

There will be a two-minute silence held at 11am. A bell will ring to start & end this.

As an act of remembrance, students are invited to wear their Cadet, Scouts, Guides or St John’s Ambulance uniforms to school on Tuesday, 11th November. This gesture serves as a respectful tribute to those who have served and sacrificed. We thank our students for representing the values of service and remembrance on this important day. If students are not members of these organisations, they should wear their school uniform.

Selected pupils will join Mr Blanchenot to lay a wreath at Barton-Under-Needwood war memorial.

Mrs Forden will be displaying all the entries of the Poppy art competition and winners will be announced.

Friday 14th November: Charity Fundraising

Friday 14th November sees our first fundraising event for the Kids’ Village, our school’s partner charity. A proportion of the donations will also go towards our community 3G pitch project.

We are having one of our ever-popular Cake Sales in the Lower Link Block during the lunch hour. Years 7,8 and 9 will be able to buy cakes from 1.10 to 1.30, and Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 will be able to buy them from 1.30 until 1.50. Cakes will range in price from 20 pence for smaller cakes, to 50 pence for larger ones.

Of course, to sell cakes we need to HAVE cakes! We would be incredibly grateful if you could donate cakes for our sale. Unfortunately, we can only accept shop bought cakes which list all the ingredients on the packaging.

All the proceeds from the cake sale will go to the fund-raising efforts of Gina and Jamie Gratton. Gina and her son Jamie- an ex-John Taylor High School student and the dad of William in year 7- are cycling from Cambodia to Vietnam in February 2026 to raise money for the Kids’ Village. William is on the year 7 Anti-Bullying committee and is helping to organise the cake sale to help send his dad and grandma on their way!

Please send cake donations in no later than Thursday 13th November. Please ask students to take them to Mrs Bonnett’s office (by U10) for storage.

Pupils are also invited to wear their best & brightest Odd Socks, on Friday 14th November to continue our awareness on Anti-Bullying Week!
