Mrs Ball and Miss Sears had an exciting start to the week as they took twenty-one Year 9 pupils to the BT offices in Birmingham for a ‘Career Ready Day’. Joined by students from two other schools, our pupils felt excited when they found out they’d be working on the 17th floor. Touring the modern offices gave them a real sense of what it’s like to be part of a large company.

During the visit, pupils listened to employees who work in Cyber Security and AI. These experts explained how their teams protect information and how AI helps solve problems. Hearing directly from professionals helped students understand the kinds of skills and knowledge needed for these careers.
The group also worked on designing an app for students, putting their ideas into practice. The JTHS pupils showed strong enthusiasm and stayed engaged throughout the session. Kieran stood out when he presented his ideas to the group, demonstrating maturity, confidence, and a clear grasp of the task.
Mrs Ball thanked the BT team for their hospitality and the opportunity they gave the students. The pupils left feeling inspired and talked about the many future pathways available in large organisations like BT. It was a valuable day that gave our pupils useful insight and motivation to explore the variety of careers within the technology industry.
Well done to Diya, Kain, Tia-Mae, Benjamin, Poppy, Connie, Evie, Joshua, Arthur, Kieran, Adele, Owais, Zackri, Ryley, Nawazish, Mohammed, Nathan, Sabiha, Aisha, Jorgie, Molly, Junior and Mariam.
