At our recent career talk organised by Mrs Ball, Subject Leader of CEIAG, our Year 11 cohort had the privilege of learning from Miriam, a successful Customer Experience Manager at HSBC and an ex-pupil of JTHS. The presentation was inspiring and engaging as Miriam  covered topics such as ‘Understanding Banking’, ‘Career Pathways’, ‘Exploring Opportunities’, ‘What’s Next?’.

During her presentation, Miriam outlined different career pathways students can pursue in banking. Miriam explained that HSBC have 41 million customers which shows the scale of HSBC and the vast services they offer. Many pupils enjoyed learning about traditional career pathways and the differences between degree apprenticeships or graduate programs.

The presentation concluded with valuable career guidance for the students. Miriam encouraged everyone to reflect on their personal interests, strengths and what they enjoy doing. She emphasised the importance of participating in extra-curricular activities both in and outside of school, as these experiences can help develop important skills for future employment. Students were also provided with online resources to help them explore their options further and make informed decisions about their future career paths. The feedback from the students was great and they said they had learnt a lot from the talk.
