Negative Youth Culture & Knife Crime

In a powerful presentation at school on Monday 13th October, Danny Mondesir, founder of Street Whyze Project, shared important messages about youth safety and positive decision making with the Year 9, 10 and 11 cohorts.

The Street Whyze Project, established in December 2021, focuses on preventing youth violence and promoting community intervention. Through his personal experiences, Danny connects with young people to help them understand the serious consequences of negative choices and the impact of knife crime.

During his engaging presentation, Danny covered critical topics including, carrying weapons, associating with certain people, social media & music influences and the law. More importantly, he emphasised positive alternatives and ways young people can make better decisions for themselves and their communities. The presentation included recent news clips of knife crime not too far from John Taylor High School to show how it can affect everyone.

The core message of the presentation was ‘what’s it worth?’. Danny stressed the importance of living by the school’s core values both inside and outside of the classroom and encouraged students to show courage and integrity in their daily choices so they don’t associate in negative youth culture.

We’d like to thank Danny for his invaluable session and can’t recommend him enough for delivering such a compelling presentation. We encourage all Year 9, 10 and 11 parents to talk to your children about the presentation and the learnings they took from it.
