A massive congratulations to our Year 7 students who took part in our Geography competition earlier this year. Students were asked to create a flag that would promote Antarctica Day on the 1st December. Students were given a success criteria and were asked to create a bright, impactful flag that would raise awareness of Antarctica.
We had a significant number of entries, and it was a very difficult decision. Unfortunately, we could only send one entry, and the winning entry was Aariz! A huge congratulations to Aariz and a massive well done to all those who entered.
Aariz’s flag was sent to Antarctica and has been photographed with a scientist who is currently based there. It has been photographed with Derren Fox who is a zoological field assistant. In the photos you will be able to see some elephant seals on the beach, these are some of the largest seals on the planet.
This was an amazing opportunity for students to develop their creative skills and develop their understanding of Antarctica. It has also given them the opportunity to have their work displayed on a large platform whilst also raising awareness of the need to protect Antarctica. A huge well done and thank you to all involved.
