On Thursday 16th October, our Year 12 BTEC IT students were joined by Matt Lilley, the Golf Operations Manager, PGA Golf Professional & Social Media Lead from Lichfield Golf and Country Club.
Matt was invited by Mrs Bostock to deliver and assist the students with their Unit 3: Website Development topic. Students were tasked with designing and building a website for a local community project to raise awareness, encourage involvement and provide useful information.
The students were excited to take on the tasks and get stuck in to research & planning, designing, building and the testing. Matt brought a wealth of valuable and practical insight to the lesson that helped ensure the students wireframes were creative, informative and easy to use on both desktop and mobile.
Mrs Bostock, Teacher of Computer Science said that ‘opportunities like this provide our students with authentic learning experiences that create enriching opportunities that link classroom theory with real-world application. This direct engagement allows students to grasp current industry trends and understand the skills necessary for various career paths in coding, graphic design, marketing and website building. These experiential learning opportunities provide them with a competitive advantage in the workplace and when they come to submit their coursework.’
