Thank you to Lisa Smith, Road Safety Education Officer from Staffordshire County Council, for her informative talk to our Year 7, 8 & 9 cohort about staying safe when walking near roads.

Lisa’s interactive talk highlighted statistics, top tips, visible clothing, weather conditions, potential risks and possible distractions. Throughout the session pupils gave impressive answers which Lisa was really pleased with. Our pupils showed they had a basic understanding of what could distract them when walking near a road but also gained further insight into how to be mindful of their surroundings.

Now that it is dark when our pupils walk home or get off the bus, talks like these are incredibly important. Many thanks to Lisa for taking the time to discuss road safety, and to Ms Bale for organising the sessions.

Lisa has provided us with a Fact Sheet which can be found here: Road Safety Fact Sheet
