The sports hall was full of excitement on 18th November and 2nd December as we welcomed local primary pupils to take part in the Indoor Athletics event. Miss Senior, Sports and Community Ambassador Co-Ordinator, who along with the help of the Sporting Young Ambassadors, provided a fantastic session for the young athletes from the local area.
There was a high-level of friendly competition between the group as they cheered and supported each-other showing great communication and teamwork skills. Activities included ball throwing, skipping, long jump, an assault course and more. At the end of the heats, the pupils were given a certificate for taking part.
The Sporting Young Ambassadors did an excellent job organising activities, greeting pupils, leading warm-ups, refereeing races and being friendly, supportive role models during the event. Their brilliant leadership and enthusiasm helped the event run smoothly and made the primary school pupils feel welcome and confident as they tried different athletic activities.
Miss Senior praised everyone involved for making the event such a success and highlighted how partnering with local primary schools supports the school’s ‘One Community’ ethos. She was impressed by the high level of sporting skill shown by the primary pupils and hopes the event gave them a positive taster of the many areas that athletics can offer.
