On Thursday 4th December, our brand new art studios came to life at our Art Facilities Launch Event, which saw members of the school community come together to celebrate it’s opening. The event showcased the impressive art classrooms which have been transformed into bright, modern and creative spaces to spark imagination and provide an inspirational place to learn for pupils. It was fantastic to see a couple of our A-level student’s in action during the event, showcasing their talents and making the most of the new facilities.
Miss Evans, Head of Faculty Creative Arts, was delighted to be joined by our VIP guest, John Waterhouse, who is a local artist and ex-pupil of the school. John was delighted to cut the red ribbon and spoke passionately about the wonderful world of art. He said ‘his passion for art was ignited at John Taylor High School’
In 2001 John’s work was first published by one of the UK’s leading fine art publishing companies. In his biography, you’ll find John’s work has been shown in some of London’s Mayfair Galleries, Harrods, and in solo exhibitions on board Cunard ships. His work has been featured in U.S. art magazine “25 Artists You Should Know” and he has previously won the Fine Art Trade Guild’s Up and Coming Artist Award.

Our guests were incredibly impressed with the refurbishment and whilst enjoying nibbles they took the opportunity to take a closer look at the new state-of-the-art touchscreen ‘teacher wall’, large ‘gallery’ style walls to display pupils’ artwork, the new studio style seating and the impressive art library. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the refurbishment project behind the scenes. It has been an incredible transformation and one that will enhance our pupils learning. Take a look at some of facilities and incredible artwork produced by our pupils.
