Mr Blanchenot celebrated a number of achievements this week for pupils who have gone above and beyond and achieved personal excellence.

Firstly, Aurelie G in Year 8 has achieved her black belt in kickboxing. Aurelie has kick-boxed since she was 5 years old and has spent the last 12 months training three nights per week. The training is hard, both physically and mentally and Aurelie has shown tremendous courage, determination, resilience and grit to even get through the training. To pass, Aurelie had to complete a 12km Warrior Mud Run, write an essay, sit an anatomy test and then complete 15 tough sparring rounds with black belts. On Sunday she was awarded her certificate and belt. This is a huge achievement which she should be really proud of.
Next, the following pupils were recognised for representing the school and developing an invention as part of the Raspberry Pi competition. Basri, Brodie, Dylan, Ffion, Harry, Junior, Nathaniel and Ralph. The team of young computer scientists were able to develop a scheduling & reminder system that sends alerts to your email and phone to tell you key times to use household appliances. If consumers use these key times to switch their household appliances on, they will save money, help the grid, become more environmentally friendly, encourage smart consumption and have more control over when they use your power.
Lastly Mr Blanchenot wanted to give the following pupils well wishes as they represent Staffordshire in the English Schools’ Athletics Association’s Track and Field Championships at Alexander Stadium, Birmingham on Friday 11th and Sat 12th July. Miss Senior, Teacher of PE said ‘Theses pupils have been selected to represent Staffordshire after getting the English Schools qualifying standards. This is the biggest number of students we have had from JTHS attend the National Competition. It’s a prestigious competition where they will compete against the best athletes in the country.’ Good luck to Brodie Horler (Junior Girls 200m), Oskar Alsop (Junior Boys 800m), Freya Manton (Inter Girls 100m), Lorelai Maxwell (Inter Girls 100m), Rosie Tyler (Inter Girls 300m), George Kugelmann (Senior Boys Discus).
Here are some of the pupils enjoying their ice-lollies!
