We continued with Ice-lollies this week to celebrate our star students. Mr Blanchenot was pleased to meet with pupils for a range of achievements, from a range of year groups. It was great to see lower school pupils, upper school pupils and six form students come together to be recognised.
Max A, Liv S, Anah H, Leandro D-R, Joe L, Ben B and Ollie M in Year 12 were nominated by Miss Quirk for participating in the Sixth Form Management Games, led by The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting. The pupils shared with the group how much they enjoyed taking part and are looking into different career pathways into business and management.
Brodie H in Year 9, Jessica G in Year 10, Scarlett F in Year 8, Freya M in Year 11, Lorelai M in Year 11, Emilia B in Year 10, Megan C in Year 10 and Oscar B in Year 10 were nominated by Miss Senior for competing at the Burton Schools District Athletics Championships and for going on to compete in the Masons Trophy Competition. Lewis F in Year 7 was also nominated by Miss Senior for the above achievement but Lewis also became County Champion in the Year 7 boys 100m. Miss Senior also wanted to nominate Jacob C as he ran an English Schools qualifying time in the 300m race, in his first ever recorded race! He will now represent Staffordshire at the National Competition. Well done to our budding athletes!
Harry G in Year 8 was nominated by Mrs Bonnett for running 5k every day for 20 days (100k in total) to raise money for our chosen charity, The Kids Village. When Mrs Letren spoke with Harry about his fundraising, he had a target of £250 and we have since discovered that Harry has raised an incredible £600 (and counting!), smashing that target!
Abigail L and Cassie P in Year 12 were nominated by Mr Knight whose work has been selected, as part of the National lessons from Auschwitz Project, to be exhibited at the annual AmCon 2026 Art Exhibition in London on Monday 6th July. Thousands of students take part in the project each year, organised by the Holocaust Eduational Trust, and submit a portfolio of work to showcase what they have learnt from the project. For their work to be chosen as an exhibit is quite something. The organisers of the event said ‘we were very impressed by the quality of your work. This unique event dedicated to championing Holocaust education and remembrance.’
