It was wonderful to see our Student Leadership team recognised at ‘Hot Chocolate with the Head’ this morning, for their support of the new Year 6 pupils on transition day.
This was the first event where the sixth formers stepped into their leadership roles and took responsibility for making sure the new pupils felt welcome and assured. During the sessions, Year 6 pupils completed tasks designed to introduce them to life in Year 7 at JTHS and the Student Leaders guided them through each activity with patience and clear explanations.
Mr. Weighall, LRC Manager, who nominated the team said, ‘The student leadership team made a real effort to ensure that the younger pupils felt included and it was a pleasure to see the interactions between them. Their support made a real difference to the Year 6 pupils and I was incredibly proud of how they represented our school. Well done.’
The leaders demonstrated integrity, kindness and respect while answering questions and offering reassurance. These qualities not only helped make the transition smoother and left a positive first impression of life at JTHS but also enhanced the student leaders’ transferrable skills.
