Today’s ‘Hot Chocolate with the Head’ celebrated a number of pupils who have shown the school’s core values in a number of areas.

Firstly, Mr Blanchenot was delighted to hear that Miss Liechti had nominated Dylan C, Sebastian S and Oliver V who’d volunteered at the JTMAT Christmas Concert and JTHS Christmas Concert as part of the Tech Team. Mr Blanchenot commented how these volunteers are an integral part of the concert. The pupils really enjoyed developing their skills with the sound, light and the projector equipment and did a fantastic job at ensuring everything ran smoothly for the performers behind the scenes.

Next, a group of Year 10s had received particularly stand-out feedback from their recent Work Experience placements.

Ameline H – Pick Everard, Elizabeth C – Pick Everard, Harlee C – Branston Golf and Country Club, Harry E – Branston Golf and Country Club, Holly T – Davisons Law, Jeffrey C – Sudbury Primary School, Samuel G – Pugh and Sanders, William R – Wabtec UK Limited, Husayn R – The Mosley Academy and House of Parliament.

Not only did the nominated students meet the basic expectations from their employers like everyone in Year 10, but they went above and beyond to make an impression and gain as much as they could from the experience. Mrs Ball was impressed by the positive feedback she had received from many employers about the conduct and integrity of all students who have been on placement and is confident that this learning opportunity has been incredibly useful for future pathways. Here are some of the wonderful things the employers said about the above students:

‘We spoke about her career aspirations…I would be happy to have her in my team anytime’

‘She did not shy away from any tasks that were set for her but in fact completed them in a positive and confident manner’

‘In all aspects, he was a tremendous help and contributed greatly to the smooth running of our week. He should be incredibly proud of himself; he represented your school exceptionally well. We would welcome him back at any time’

‘Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with such a capable and engaging young person. We wish him luck and success in all he does’

‘He was a pleasure to have, he was smart, kind and friendly, and fit in great with the team’

Lastly, Maisie R shared with the group that she had successfully auditioned to be in Sutton Coldfield’s recent performance of Aladdin. Maisie said that she loves performing to a live audience and it was a great experience for her. Maisie also shared with the group that she has featured in the popular BBC drama, Silent Witness. Maisie hopes to pursue a career in performing and would love to be an established actress in the future. Well done Maise!
