Today at ‘Hot Chocolate with the Head’ Mr Blanchenot was greeted by not only our superstar Year 8 pupils, but a fantastic display of impressive artwork.
Xander, Clay, Annabelle, Alfie, Maheen, Scarlett, Mollie, Elicia, Rizwan, Lexie, Mila, Macy, Amun and Beatrix were nominated by Miss Ball & Miss Broderick for winning the ‘Spirited Arts Competition’ which required pupils to convey religious messages in different mediums. Pupils used watercolours, paint techniques, materials, 3D textures and more to highlight key religious teachings. Two pupils wrote an impressive rap to convey their message and performed it in front of Mr Blanchenot at the celebration this morning.
Pupils had the choice to select from some themes for their artwork which included:
- Faith in our Future, Hope in our Future
- Prayers for all that lives! Animals, Earth, God
- Open Bible!
- Searching for God
- Sacred Spaces
- Children of God
The organisers of the competition commented that ‘the competition is recognised on a national level and averages 25,000 entrants each year. This competition not only enables pupils to articulate their thoughts and opinions about religion and worldviews through the arts, but they will also get recognised for taking part in a national competition. Winning/highly commended artwork will be displayed on our online Spirited Arts Gallery.’
